Job Summary

The City Lead, Vancouver will play a pivotal role in the development of the Vancouver market.  This role involves managing logistics, coordinating with vendors and stakeholders, and ensuring a seamless experience for attendees.  The City Lead, Vancouver will contribute to the success of MAX’s mission by delivering memorable events that showcase excellence and foster community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be an owner! You are the face of MAX Mentors for your city and responsible for

driving forward the MAX Mentors vision.

  • Be proactive in taking on responsibility and “doing” things.
  • Work collaboratively with all City Leads, as well as MAX Central.
  • Identify how we can continue to improve our mentorship program.
  • Build the team and focus on volunteer engagement & retention:
    • Work with Human Resources to identify industry managers, event leads, etc. and onboard them, ensure everyone is clear about their roles & responsibilities.
    • Host bi-weekly meetings with your team, ideally in person. Discuss updates, progress, and how we can improve the program.
    • Host quarterly socials (if possible) with your team together and grow connectivity.
    • Stay connected with your volunteers, understand their motivations, and keep them engaged.
  • Deliver a high-quality mentorship program in your city.
    • Oversee the work of the Industry Managers (often you’ll need to jump into make sure things are moving along)
    • Ensure industry managers are meeting all deadlines, and everything is running smoothly.
  • Organize excellent events.
    • Oversee the work done by the City Events team and ensure things are moving as per set timeline; it must happen in parallel to the mentee intake!
    • Ensure each city is organizing 2 mandatory events: Speed Mentoring Meet & Greet and the Graduation.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented and organized professional with a passion for coordination and community engagement.  You thrive in dynamic environments and are committed to delivering high-quality experiences.  You have:

  • Strong organizational, communication, negotiation, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to manage and track expenses effectively.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams including marketing, design, and communications.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain a customer-service mindset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspaces tools.
  • Established relationships with vendors and service providers considered an asset.
  • 3 years of experience working in a corporate setting. 
  • Show up to every scheduled meeting. If unable to attend, please provide a minimum 48 hours’ notice.
  • Respond to emails within 3 days and set an ‘’Out of Office’’ when away on vacation.
